Cougars News · 2020 Basketball Senior Night

Last night was full of emotion and excitement as both the girls and boys basketball programs concluded their regular seasons in dramatic fashion. The lady cougars won a nail biter in a pivotal game that would determine potential playoffs appearances. With the score being 3-0 at the half, it was anyone’s ball game. Hilton Head was determined to keep the game close as they were in a win or go home scenario. Key rebounds, steals and forced turnovers were what ultimately propelled the Lady Cougars into a final score 7-2 victory and a second seed in the playoffs.  We would also like to give a shout out to Coach Perry Smalls as this was his final regular season game coaching the Lady Cougars. Coach Perry has been the Head Coach of the Lady Cougars since 2015. The Colleton County Athletic Department would like to congratulate Coach Perry Smalls on a great season and coaching career at Colleton County. We wish you the best and you will definitely be missed.

As the game ended the boys team was preparing mentally to follow the lady cougars with a victory and a second straight region title. With all of the Senior Night festivities over, it was time for a region championship game between the Colleton County Cougars and Hilton Head Seahawks. The Cougars jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. With our seniors determined to end this season in style, they put together a complete game where everyone was able to contribute to a great victory. Congratulations to both teams! Special thanks to Bethany Monroe and Whitley Weathers as they helped coordinate and organize the Senior Night program. Photos were taken by Whitley Weathers.
